
AIMRC is the Artificial Intelligence Multidisciplinary Research Center of the University of Urbino. Established through the joint initiative of all University Departments, the Center brings together expertise and experience in AI from across all academic disciplines, fostering a comprehensive approach to the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence and embracing a wide range of perspectives.
The Center was established by Rectoral Decree on 2 March 2026. Its Director is Professor Alessandro Bogliolo, Professor of Information Processing Systems, while administrative responsibility for the Center is assigned to the Department of Pure and Applied Sciences (DiSPeA). The center became fully operational on June 10, with the approval of its Governance Model, Internal Regulations and External Advisory Board, as well as the appointment of the student representative to the Executive Board.
The Center brings together faculty members, researchers, PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers and research fellows from the University's six Departments who share expertise and interests in the field of Artificial Intelligence. More than 170 faculty members and researchers have joined the Centre, representing 14 broad scientific areas, over 30 fields of study and more than 90 scientific disciplines. The Center's activities also involve more than 60 PhD candidates, postdoc and contract owners.
General Assembly
The AIMRC General Assembly is composed of all members and participants involved in the Center's activities. It meets at least once a year to review the Center's achievements, discuss ongoing initiatives, and collect ideas and proposals that contribute to planning future activities and strategic priorities.
Executive Board
The Centre's Executive Board is chaired by the Director and is composed of representatives from the University's six Departments, together with one student representative.
Scientific Committee
The Scientific Committee is chaired by the Director and is composed of representatives from the University's Departments, together with Center members appointed to represent disciplinary areas, expertise and experiences relevant to the achievement of the Center's objectives.
External Advisory Board
The External Advisory Board is composed of distinguished individuals with diverse expertise, experience and interests. Its members are invited by the Rector upon proposal of the Executive Board and formally appointed by the Department responsible for the Center's administration.
AIMRC is not an autonomous administrative entity. Its activities are carried out through its affiliated faculty, researchers and their respective Departments.The Center is represented by its Director, Professor Alessandro Bogliolo. The Department of Pure and Applied Sciences (DiSPeA), to which the Director belongs, serves as the administrative host Department of the Center. The Center's mission and institutional framework, the procedures governing membership for faculty and research staff, and its relationship with the University's Departments are defined in accordance with the University's Guidelines for Research Centers, issued on 10 March 2026. The Center welcomes collaborations with institutions, research centers, public and private organizations, associations and companies interested in contributing to the achievement of AIMRC's objectives through research, innovation, applications, education, training and knowledge transfer activities. As the Center operates through the Departments to which its affiliated faculty members belong, each collaboration is coordinated by an AIMRC member who acts as the internal contact person and involves their Department in the establishment of the collaboration agreement, convention or partnership.
